FEAR not anymore! $BALLOON

$BALLOON

This time, it doesn't get away.

One artist drew the balloon the whole internet chased. A corporation grabbed it and sold it back to the world — without him. $BALLOON is the community that grabbed it back: trading fees flow to Superelmer and fund his fight for his own work.

The comic strip

The little guy vs. the machine.

You've laughed at this balloon a thousand times. You never knew the man who drew it — or what was taken from him. This is the part of the comic nobody drew. Until now.

Panel 1 · 2017

A kid from Laguna draws a balloon.

April 2017. No studio. No agency. No budget. Just Elmer Saflor — a young Filipino artist posting comics as Superelmer — drawing a hopeful little guy reaching for a yellow balloon labelled opportunities, while shyness holds him back.

The internet saw itself in that little guy. Over 158,000 shares from one post. Millions of reposts since. The Running Away Balloon became one of the most-used meme templates on Earth — his signature quietly fading off every copy.

Panel 2 · The grab

A corporation sells his balloon back to the world.

Fast-forward. An AI meme company takes the balloon Elmer drew for free for all of us — and puts it behind a paywall. His comic, offered as a paid commercial template in subscription plans running up to $199 a month, marketed to brands and agencies.

The artist who drew it? Not asked. Not paid. Not credited. Same story as always: the little guy makes the thing, the big guy makes the money. Except this little guy had done his homework — his copyright was registered.

Panel 3 · The fight

David filed. In federal court.

On 1 July 2026, Elmer sued. Saflor v. Memes Apps, LLC — US District Court, Central District of California. He's seeking an injunction, damages and the profits made off his back. A US federal lawsuit is a war of attrition designed to outspend little guys. So the internet that grew up on his balloon did something about it.

Panel 4 · Now

The community grabbed the string.

$BALLOON launched on Solana and the community took it over — no insiders, no VC, no team allocation. Creator fees from every single trade flow to wallets controlled by Elmer himself: a running war chest for his lawsuit and a long-overdue payday for the man behind the meme.

Every meme ends with the balloon escaping. Not this one.

3% Supply locked by the artist

Elmer locked 3% of the total supply — his skin in the game, on-chain for anyone to check. He has also gifted tokens to active community contributors, and signalled that further locks — possibly burns — may follow. No promises. Just receipts as they land.

The artist

Meet the man behind the balloon.

Elmer Saflor, the artist known as Superelmer, smiling in a Hustle Life t-shirt

Elmer "Superelmer" Saflor — digital artist and comic creator from Laguna, Philippines. Over 1.2 million followers on Facebook and a decade of drawing the internet's feelings before the internet knew it had them. The Running Away Balloon is simply his most famous escapee.

"For me, it was never just a meme — it was something I created."

Elmer isn't a name slapped on a token — he's in this. The ticker and contract address sit in his own X bio, he's endorsed $BALLOON across his official channels, he locked supply, and the creator fees flow directly to him.

The flight plan

Roadmap: The Ascent.

Written by the community, not a marketing agency. We don't do dates we can't keep — we do altitudes. The balloon climbs as each stage inflates, and everything already done comes with a receipt.

✓ 0 m — On the ground. Done.

Already inflated.

  • Community takeover complete — the original dev is out.
  • Elmer on board — the ticker and CA sit in his own bio, and creator fees flow to his wallets.
  • 3% of supply locked by the artist, announced publicly.
  • Copyright registered — VA 2-397-201, US Copyright Office.
  • Federal lawsuit filed — 1 July 2026, Central District of California.
  • Website live. You're looking at it.
1,000 m — Lift-off (now – Q3 2026)

Trust first. Then altitude.

  • Liquidity locked — automatic and permanent by design on pump.fun. Nobody can pull it. Ever.
  • 3% of supply locked by the artist — and the community is exploring locking even more.
  • Share legal-case updates as the process allows. No spin, no leaks.
  • Grow the community across X, Telegram and Spaces — every new holder welcomed by name.
  • Take the Balloon story to artists, creators and meme communities who've lived it.
  • Interviews and media whenever the door opens.
5,000 m — Climbing

The community takes the controls.

  • Meme contests and community art contests — judged by the man who drew the original.
  • Creator spotlights, ambassador and creator programmes.
  • Holder appreciation events, giveaways and participation rewards.
  • Strategic collaborations with aligned communities.
10,000 m — Cruising altitude

Build something that lasts.

  • Community-driven marketing campaigns.
  • Partnerships and exchange listings.
  • Official merchandise with original Balloon artwork — licensed by the artist himself. Imagine that: meme merch where the creator actually gets paid.
  • Community treasury initiatives, new utilities and ecosystem features.
  • Buybacks if — and only if — they serve the project's long-term health.

No dates we can't keep. No promises we can't verify. The balloon climbs at the speed of the community. 🎈
